Hagop Akiskal (1944-2021) was an international giant of theory, research and clinical practice in Psychiatry during his 60-year career. He had collaborators on most continents and published hundreds of papers, dozens book chapters and was the originator and editor in chief for the Journal of Affective Disorders. Below is a seminal article just as relevant today as when it was published in 2004. He is one of my career heroes.
